在車輪制動器摩擦過薄報警系統使用中，較常出現的故障是制動器摩擦片還未到更換時機，報警系統便報警，指示燈閃亮。由以上原理分析中，可以看出，造成指示燈閃亮的原因有兩方面：一是制動摩擦片磨到了極限程度（正常），應該加以更換；二是報警系統本身有故障。報警系統檢查步驟如下：

1、關閉點火開關，拔下左右輪傳感器插頭，若指示燈仍亮，則故障在控制器，應予以更換；若指示燈閃亮停止，則說明傳感器線路正常，傳感器本身有故障，需進行進一步加以檢查區別。

2、在關閉點火開關的狀態下，插入一側傳感器插頭（不插另一側）。當打開點火開關后，看報警指示燈的情況，若不亮，則說明該側可能無問題；若指示燈閃亮，則說明該插入側的傳感器損壞。
